Dear Combjelly:

You forget that a 1.733GHz Palomino will be released in Q1. Multiply 1.733 by 1.2 (12 stages / 10 stages) and you get 2.067, not that far from 2GHz (15x133 PC2100). However, this may be what the simulations, if 0.18u bulk were used as the process for Clawhammer. 0.13u bulk could get to 2.5GHz and they are probably getting A0 masks ready as we speak (if not done already). I think that 2.5GHz Clawhammers would be used for lower power dissipation on SOI (15x166 PC2700) and 3GHz Sledgehammers by end 2002 (9x166x2 dual PC2700) allowing for high ASPs.

But 2GHz samples of 0.13u SOI would be good for checking out and some info on yield at probable speed bin curves. Of course all it probably is, is a nice round number to use in an example.
