No. It's not 50-50. Whoever posted that figure was wrong. Business donations run about 60-40 in favor of Republicans. I researched this extensively about nine months ago. Assuming that all labor money goes to Democratic candidates (and it doesn't), the combined pool of business-labor contributions to politics would be about 55-45 or 54-46 in favor of Republicans.

However, as the GOP discovered 11 months ago, money spent on advertising doesn't guarantee election results. For instance, what was far more productive, especially in Michigan and Pennsylvania, was the fact that thousands of UAW members got out the vote on election day. The automakers gave 'em the day off work (with pay) so they could make democracy a reality, and not a concept, by getting out the vote, driving people to the polls, etc. I'm sure it also was a good learning experience for the children of these patriotic UAW workers.

<<Didn't you post the numbers that corporate contributions go about 50/50 to both
parties? Someone on this thread did post to that effect. >>

I posted that figure. see post # 195523 as it saves us a lot of trouble finding the true figures.
And by the way, allowing the UAW members a day off with pay to vote (I wonder how many would take off to voter if they had not been paid?)was a top secret in Michigan until the election was over which skewered the election here in favor of the dems.
