I follow this thread for Zeev's excellent analysis, and that of other astute people who have assembled here As do I and legions of others. Look Steve, Sept 11 was a frightening day. Many things were said out of anger and fear. In fact, about that time, I'm sure plenty of people agreed with Rich1. 5k+ people were just doing their jobs when they were murdered. Murdered for getting up in the morning and going to work. That can inspire some pretty serious anger. Especially when some are making excuses for it, and knocking America, while doing so. What is important, is that Rich1 has kept the quality of the new thread as have others who are staying away from politics. The new thread is a NEW thread, so why bring up old things? Fred

Are you for real? I am neither a racist nor a xenophobe but COMPLETELY understood the anger that was displayed. I don't think that anyone needs you to moderate how they feel when 5,000 of their countrymen are murdered. I think that most Americans have felt those pangs for revenge, but or course: the United States will feed the citizens of a country whose government harbors those who try to destroy our Nation This nation is not perfect, but it is the defender of liberty and freedom. Imagine a world without the United States? How far would the totalitarian, oppressive regimes gone without this great nation? We are all pefectly capable of formulating our own opinions on the matters at hand. Your comment about the "unpopularity" of the US in the face of loss of life exceeding that of Pearl Harbor really says alot.
