When AMD or Intel stuffs the distribution channel, they either have to pay for it in subsequent shipments at a fixed ASP, or subsequent ASPs at a fixed shipment (or maybe a little of both). AMD paid back their mistakes by tanking ASPs, which still shows that their Q2 channel stuffing ended up coming back to haunt them in Q3. I wonder what will happen in Q4, after having stuffed the channels in Q3, and after having risen their ASPs. I predict that AMD will be back to under 20% market share. Feel free to bookmark this prediction, if you want.
