Hi Jim,

on a fundamental basis I would be willing to short NVLS, AMAT.

Later,

Suresh

Jim, any ideas about what caused the turn-around?........... I am up 60% since Sept., most of it was made by holding for weeks. Recently, I have been back to day trading and that has only contributed to 10% of my recent gains. I am getting worried about excessive volatility and wondering if we're setting up for some sort of pullback to ~1600-1630 again.

Hi Jim,

Here is a place to start. I would ignore the biotechs, they
always look overpriced.

JNPR
I felt like an idiot after suggesting that BRCD had massive accumulation going on yesterday, when I saw the open print of a big gap down. Well, JNPR and BRCD were both downgraded on "valuation" this morning by analysts. The same kind that kept raising their prices targets regardless of what not too long ago. I guess they want to come across as responsible to regain whatever is left of their credibility. But the market has other ideas. The recovery of these names from their morning lows are just amazing. Something they could have never accomplished just a month ago. This again is example of liquidity at work. Much like the same liquidity that created the biggest bubble 2 years ago. Price, valuation be dammed! Except this time the liquidity is much much bigger, try 10 to 20 times bigger. So, don't fight this flood of money. Enjoy it while it lasts. Oh, by the way, like two years ago, you can buy on dip again. If you are wrong short term, the market and liquidity will bail you out. none.

I have like this one since June, when it was in the mid teens. What I have noticed was the consistant accumulation on this name. While we are on the subject of OBV, it is at an all time high today, despite the fact the all time high in price was 20 months ago near $80. Needless to say, there is plenty of upside in the future. It is one of the strongest name in NDX. none.

Thu Oct 25, 6:06pm PDT GENZ
ADVP
Here are two great examples of OBV divergence. GENZ's OBV is off the charts and is at an all time high, yet the price is not even at it's old high. So, OBV is suggesting tremendous upside ahead. ADVP, a highflier for the past year is having it's OBV pointing at a new 52 week low, yet the start is just recently broke down from it's all time highs. There will be a lot of pain ahead for this one. Avoid it. none.

Thu Oct 25, 3:49pm PDT SUNW
In late August when SUNW had a big gap down, I said don't bother bottom fish this one until $7 range. That was the long term support. The stock build a pretty good base over the last month and it is setting itself up for a breakout and a possible fill of the late August gap. For you SUNW fans, this would a good entry spot here.

Jim,

I agree with Suresh on AMAT and NVLS. They broke the 50 day EMA's today, but not on increased volume. I would add LRCX.

AMAT:
askresearch.com

NVLS:
askresearch.com

LRCX:
askresearch.com

On the other hand CYMI, KLAC, KLIC and VECO did.

KLAC:
askresearch.com

KLIC:
askresearch.com

VECO:
askresearch.com

I would wait for the the break of the 50 day EMA back on the downside first though.

Anything on the long haul is going to get pressure on any down swing. Not so much on the edge. Anything to do with optical component espeically passive components will be under intense pressure. I expect most to get back to the recent lows.
