Frankly, if Intel gets within 4% of IBM's 1.3GHz Power4 with their 1.0GHz McKinley, then I'd be ecstatic.

If a 1.0GHz McKinley can get that close, how will a 1.6GHz Madison do?

Will this recompiled code run on Merced, and if so, will it be as fast a code compiled for Merced?
