I pay as much attention to that article as I pay to so-called "experts on terrorism." They may have good points here and there, but more likely than not they're missing the mark.

Itanium is not a bad processor to address this market (or at least the high end of this market). However poor the integer performance of Itanium may be, it is better than UltraSPARC.

Harry, Compaq is quite happy with the performance of McKinley, but it was what Intel showed them with regard to a roadmap about Madison and beyond, and, maybe more importantly, the process roadmap that gets a significant speedbump perhaps every year, that clinched the deal.
