Exactly, Intel is lying to say that they are discontinuing the Pentium 3. What they're really discontinuing is the Celeron. This is not surprising since the Celeron has long since ceased to be competitive with any other low-end part (except maybe C3). By shuffling brand names it allows them to save face and pretend that a +ve performance Delta exists between between their low and high end. (We all know, that in most applications, a 1.2Ghz "celleron" on pc133 would beat a Pentium 4 of any speed on that same memory type)
