I didn't know that ... but then Sir John A. was a glaswegian ... no biggie ... we're a nation of immigrants, even the indians go back to people who either walked across the Bering Ice Bridge, or kayaked here, or got blown off course while on trade/migration trips to other places ... or all three ..... the haida tell stories of chinese buddhist missionaries stopping in hundreds of years ago .... there was a town around Rupert circa 1900, Metlakatla [sp?], its founders accumulated considerable evidence of these visits from the locals, pottery and stuff as well as oral history

My wife will be a citizen in a few months, her canadianness will not suffer from the fact that she has consciously chosen this country in addition to the one she was handed by accident of birth ... she's at work right now, about a third of her pay goes straight to Canada Revenue .... you know what was the first thing she learned in english? - '¡peess me off!' ... just liked the sound of it i guess ... 'short sharp saxon words' like WSC says ... eee-yup, she'll make a fine british columbian, fit right in -g-
