HSBC on stockhouse has posted that Qwest stopped capital expenditures. This isn't quite right and see excerpt below.

<<<<<<<<<,Chris Hardman, a Qwest spokesman, confirmed the order but wouldn't disclose how many contractors or how much work is affected. He said the directive is part of an effort by the Denver-based telecommunications company to cut costs, including capital expenditures.

The directive "was sent to contractors giving notice to suspend certain operations until an analysis is complete," Hardman said. In the meantime, he said, "we are fixing service issues and doing everything we need to move forward."

The decision to assess work being done by contractors comes as Qwest reported this week an unexpected loss of $142 million and flat revenues for its third quarter. At least nine analysts have downgraded Qwest stock since the results were issued, and the company's stock price has declined more than 20 percent.>>>>>>>>>.

I like the expected growth numbers in the BS DSL numbers for next year. They project doing in 1 year what has to date taken more than 2 years.

They mention going slow up front in order to ensure their DSL execution would be smooth and fast. I would hope that objective was the basis for the RFP NHC responded to last year. I agree with whomever said that the relationship with NHC really has to be spelled out a bit, imo a few more FOA's is not sufficient to answer the real question of what is this contract for/about?

I was suprised that Simpler was able to raise that much cash; i believe it was US dollars and translates into something like CDN$ 40 million. That certainly puts them way ahead of us from the cash side. No answers though from the software side of their product, which we are being told is the major issue with the ILEC's right now.

One other point, Simpler now have a larger market cap then NHC. They have no sales with any ILEC - go figure?

Cleto, given the net purchases by the houses are really very small in monetary terms, less than a couple hundred $k, why do you think there is any accumulation?

I still think we are really just seeing exisitng shareholders averaging down their ACB's. I know i have done that, going from an ACB of $10.00 down to $4. I don't see any reason to average down below this, NHC will either fizzle or easily see $4.00 per share.

I would think that if sales dribble in, we won't get an "eagle2000" kind of crazy jump. If however, it's more like a dam bursting, i guess it could really pop!

It is frustrating as we have all been allocating a fair bit of time to this baby for a long time. It always seems that we are trying to see around the corner.
