gregor,

I think that Joe Paterno can probably stay at Penn State for as long as he wants. I read that the Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden was rumored to be the next Irish head coach...but he would have to take a large pay cut..probably not likely to happen. You worried about losing Beamer?<g>

Strength of schedule....so far neither VT or Miami has had that tough a schedule. Miami has already beaten Florida State rather handily, although Fla State seems to be having an off year. Also Miami has beaten Rutgers and W Virginia by wider margins than VT has. I think VT is rated #2 by the NYTimes computer poll (Okla is #1).

This is just my opinion, I have no special insight, just a fan, but I think that strength of schedules aside the best college football team in the country is Miami. But the task of beating VT in Blacksburg may be too tough a task for the Hurricanes?

Last night's game...I thought that WV played them tough for a while, but the WV quarterback injury seemed to limit W Virginia's options on offense and Miami just began to chew them up. Dorsey had a poor start but once he started clicking it was all over. Dorsey strikes me as an exceptional QB. When he's on I'm not sure that anyone can beat them?

It pains me to say this (as an Irishman), but I'm pulling for BC also...I still smart from a defeat that ND handed Syracuse back in the early 60's...the Orange were playing ND in South Bend and had them beat..the last play of the game drew a defensive penalty enabling the Irish to kick a winning field goal after the clock had expired. Damn home refs.<vbg>
