Why we should stop the War in Afghanistan: My idea is not a popular one and I will concede that from the start. I have maintained for some time now that sophisticated weaponry is even more useless in this area of the world than most others because of the mountainous terrain and the vast expanse of area. Cruise missiles aren't cheap too; they cost about $1M+ each. How much food could you buy with that? You could flood every border of Afghanistan with it along with translators telling the people exactly who it came from; knowledge needs to play a part in toppling Bin Laden. They will ultimately be the ones who decide the fate of their country; not the US or anyone else, regardless of what our politicians might claim. This is a fact often overlooked by these very people. But I truly believe a campaign like the one I am describing could bring about a much more effective end to this whole ordeal, and at a fraction of the cost and getting food to those who truly need it. I am not sold even .001% by the Propaganda coming out of our military Juggernaut. To date, we have dropped approximately 900,000 food packets. There are about 4 million(some numbers run as high as 7 million) people in desperate trouble. We need to stop the bombings and take care of them; 900,000 daily rations dropped over a period of two weeks to feed millions of people only adds up to a disaster in the making. We could conceivably kill a million people to achieve our goal of getting several hundred. This can in no way be called a just war. Regards, Brian

Israel is not the United States of America. And no one has suggested attacking the terrorists is going to lead us to nirvano. The world will continue to be a dangerous place. Freedom and liberty will continue to have to be defended, probably with many more lives for generations to come. As I've said before, we may not have the right answer, but we certainly can recognize the wrong one. Not responding to terrorism and not inflicting heavy damage on them, is a formula for disaster. It will lead to more deaths than our current path would. Doing nothing is doing something. Doing nothing has consequences, it's not a benign path. What makes you think throwing food near the border is going to prevent terrorists from future actions? We already give billions of dollars in aid to the region.
