Nadine,

If you are dropping in on the middle of something and haven't done any background intellectual work, you are forgiven. That's often the way that Americans go about "thinking".

Do a search on this thread for "Haiphong", "1964", and "Standard Oil of California". You'll find one of my posts upstream that completely clears up any doubt as to the intent of our engagement in Viet Nam. Bogus contracts with ousted colonial powers for control of foreign resources. That is what we sent the marines to protect. Do you believe me? Obviously not. You sniffily dismiss my correct analysis of American policy with you snooty and dismissive comments about rice and cinammon. Do you think you can get away with it? Fuggedaboutit. You're too transparent. Come up with a better lie.

You foolishly try to belittle me while conveniently disregarding my carefully considered and well researched argument. You are either a fool, an apologist or liar. Which is it?

OTOH, if all that Viet Nam had to offer was rice and cinammon, why in the world would we expend so many billions of dollar and millions of Vietnamese and thousands of U.S. lives?

Re: Be serious.
Get real.

Namaste, Ray :)
