Yes, in a complete role reversal thathas occurred over the past two years, attempt to compete with AMD would seem a fit descriptor. "Which company has 78% market share ?" Which company has experienced outstanding market share growth over the past two years? "Which company has 99.9% Server and Workstation x86 market share?" Which company has just dipped its toe into the server and workstation spaces with products that exhibi5t the same price/performance enhancements as did (and continues to do so) Athy two years ago? "Which company just got DUMPED by IBM, Gateway and Tiny Computers of England?" Which company despite 100% support of Dell, IBM, Gateway and Tiny cannot stop market share growth of the company with the superior price/performance product? "Which company has been profitable in every quarter for the past 15 years?" Which company is looking at red ink for the first time in 15 years and why? "Which company just posted a HUGE LOSS?" Which company will experience a net income decline year/year approaching not $1 billion but $10 billion...That's right, INTC net income in Y2000 was $10.4 billion...INTC's net income in 2001 over nine months is 787 million...(The way INTC is headed Paul, looks like their losses will dwarf any AMD losses over the next 6 months)... "Which company has posted a yearly loss for 4 of the last 5 years?" Once again, which company has seen a negative turn approaching not $1 billion but $10 billion in net income over the past 12 months...Extrapolating on this new and unaccustomed trend spells bigtime RED INK... "Which company is expected to lose money THIS YEAR and NEXT YEAR?" It just might be INTC! "Which company has ASPs plummeted to $60 - the level during the Kmart6 days?" Which company has leveraged its future on p4, a product that just can't seem to fly despite the numerous and seemingly desparate price reductions (one more today I hear)that have occurred since its intro? Hey Paul, a $10 billion negative change in net income (not to mention the bloated goodwill and $120 million in unreaklized depreciation on marketable securities) in 1 year is no doubt a company record but not the kind of record that shareholders can be proud of...Kind of dwarfs any INTC accomplishments that might have occurred over this same period, wouldn't you say?
