Hi LLefty; Re selling (or giving) your obsolete Encyclopedia Britannica away.

Even if it isn't being used directly for children to write (worthless) research papers they still are undoubtedly useful.

The presence of such an imposing set of books in a home declares that "this family thinks that knowledge and learning is important." It's a value thing. Every family should keep books around for this purpose even if none of the adults actually read them.

The nice thing about old encyclopedias (if you have the room for them) is that they give more depth to articles about things which get shorter shrift in newer encyclopedias.
