<< I disagree. >>

Your rights to be wrong are protected by our constitution. <g>

<< The press the so called news is all about ratings. >>

Yes. Right. So.... we live in a capitalistic society. In countries like Cuba, North Korea, China, etc., they are not worried about ratings.

<< Its become totally editoral and gossip. More like a soap opera than news. >>

Nonsense. If anything, we are being inundated with news. At the bottom of the screen, current news items constantly flow across. Personally, I constantly switch between MSNBC, CNN and Fox News to catch up with the latest events. I feel that I am very well informed. Many news shows have several guests of totally different viewpoints.

What would you prefer? No talk shows like O'Reilly or Larry King? How about Talk Back Live? Cancel it? Do you want just straight news items without dialog or expert analysis? Just what are you looking for that you are not getting?

<< When was the last time the press reported on a bill that was in congress? >>

All the time. But, if they covered all of the bills, all of the time, including all of the pork, the news would go out of business because they would be boring everyone to death.

But..... this is a valid point on your part. You want the news to provide more coverage of bills. OTOH, there are two C-Span channels that provide comprehensive coverage of congress, and you can usually find more about bills in newspapers.

<< The press should be required to report the entire thing. If that was done the spin doctors would be exposed so that will never happen. >>

C-Span does report the entire thing. That's why I ignore the coverage and listen to the experts provide me with a summary, and with their opinions. This, I consider, valuable input to me. The spin doctors provide a very valuable service. Of course, those like yourself, that want to poor thru a 1000 page report, rather than have someone else summarize it for you, will have to look elsewhere.

Could you give a specific example where the "spin doctors" should be exposed, so it will never happen again? What crime(s) was committed by the spin doctors?
