i dont think he called YOU a simpleton.

he called the generalization "simplistic" which most generalizations are since all people and situations are more complex than the amount of time people devote to understanding them. But then if the matter does not affect one personally, why would one go to the extent of unearthing every last detail. Its not math that needs to have an exact solution.
