Isn't that where the aircraft controls are moved through the movement of wires originating at the stick? Rich, please explain!

What is "fly by wire"?

"Fly by wire" is a term used for the Digital Flight Control system including digital data busses that has electronic actuators on all control surfaces of modern commercial and military aircraft. The aircraft used in the assaults have this technology. Essentially what you have is a triple redundant flight control computer tied to all control surfaces and the abiltiy to get postional data from GPS and the ground thus resulting in the capability for these aircraft to fly pinpoint accuracy including take off and landing without assistance from the pilot
