YES. I agree. The U.S. needs to impose a solution and now. If that is done and both sides, while maybe not liking it, accept it, then one huge - albeit specious nevertheless - Arab/Islamic argument against the U.S. is removed. That will put Osama and friends in the corner they deserve. Anyone else continues attacking us after that we will have a clear runway to go after them.

Are you nuts? The Palestinians have been running the quintessential terrorist state! Are we signing onto the proposal that terrorism against the US is bad, but terrorism against Israel, well they have issues, you understand.

And who would be fool enough to monitor the "solution" and volunteer to be bombed by Hamas? Hamas doesn't want a solution; they want the destruction of Israel. For that matter, so does the PA. They all see this "solution" as a useful step in the right direction.

Maybe if the US gave Israel tacit permission to destroy the PA and root out Hamas et. al. on condition that they then acquiesce to the imposed solution afterwards, it might work. Then an occupation (by NATO, perhaps) could work on rebuilding the economy and prepare for elections. This would allow the Israelis to withdraw without rewarding the terrorists. And it would allow the Palestinians to develop some local leaders without having all moderate voices be immediately shot as collaborators.
