If there had already been a descent of, say, 5,000 feet, the rest would be less than 10 seconds. At those speeds, overshooting the target would be easy. One facet of overshooting would be misjudging the descent, and failing to hit the target......... ...........and then magically circling the area undetected and coming around and flying with great accuracy into the Pentagon. At 5,000 feet that plane would have been like a giant noisemachine with all kinds of sightings, especially wizzing along at 360mph. It could not go by the White House and circle the area and drop from 5000 feet to zero in 10 seconds without being seen. Why didn't they give altitude data, likely they didn't have any since the transponder was off, (maybe they were tracking some other plane)
