True enough. From the other rule of thumb availability indicator, pricewatch shows reasonable 1800+ xp availability, with slowly falling prices. In my other periodic spot check, I must note that the elusive 1.2ghz Celeron has put in its first appearance on pricewatch, one (1) listing (not one page, one vendor), at the relatively good price of $115, retail boxed even. googlegear.com

Fyo, Re: Either that or a) AMD is having production problems, b) the model in question is being dropped.

I was wondering about that, too... But if you add the Fujitsu-Siemens data point to it (sold out and supply problems for backorders) and the data point from Peter's and mine favorite German hardware online reseller (where Athlon XP availability has been mixed at best) it leaves IMO only two possibilities: Either AMD is having production problems with Athlon XP or it is selling very well. I tend somewhat to the latter since Pricewatch availability is good and we have seen a slight price erosion so far. It certainly could do wonders to ASPs but I am still somewhat cautious about it. It would be good to have some additional data points from the non-DIY market (OEMs).
