Hire one of the top notch private security firms here and they will do a good job. Just get rid of the firms belonging to some democrat politician's brother in law.

"If it were true" Don't know for sure that it is. Flapjack thinks they are lying. "Why do we have so much evidence that they have done such a lousy job here?" Becuase they are minimum wage workers with high turnover and no standards (or low standards). The dems insinuate GWB wants status quo, and I think they are mis-representing that, if not out right lying. "It is also not logical to say that just because the Republican rabid dogs(DeLay's Armey) are resisting federalizing airport security that they wish to continue their minimum wage status" I agree. See above, and thanks for makin my point. Patricia and flapjack have stated just the opposite of what you say. "And by the way, all those cops and firemen in New York, those lousy, lazy featherbedding bums who just kept going up and up and up into the WTC while all the workers were going down and down and down, they were union. Every one of them." You seem to have the same inability to understand my position as flapjack. I do not hate union workers. I don't like unions for a number of reasons. Flapjack has stated flat out in a slanderous and malicious way that I do not like the fire fighters and cops becuase they are in the union. Please don't you do that too. It is a divisive name calling tactic that is quite offensive.

The security force at the gates of the The Trident Nuclear Submarine base near where I live, is a private company, 'Johnson Controls'. It's not logical to assume that private security means lousy pay, high turnover, and lousy performance. Whoever signs the contracts and hires these companies (I'm assuming the airlines), must adhere to high standards of excellence. Whether they're government employees, or private sector ones, the industry needs to be monitored and held accountable for poor performance. From what I understand, the FAA has been remise in focusing on this area of safety. I doubt they will be in the future. Practically all of the problems related to aircraft hijackings could be prevented by having a sealed bullet proof double door cabin for the pilots. Then, it's just a matter of monitoring who you hire as pilots. Which, by the way, from what I've heard, some are green card holders.
