Mark,
Good history on your part. When Sun gets back we should ask him about iran. He has a keen understanding of the current situation as the Western side of the equation starts making its precence felt over there.
Question: What should we do with the Saudis. We need to neutralize the effect of the loss of oil. What would a good policy be at this point in time. I cant imagine this regime will last more than another 10 years or so. Bottom line is that is an inbred monarchy with folks mentally impaired by years of inbreeding. Monarchies like this always die. How can we best influence what comes next. mike

OT-Hey, I AM sorry for getting off topic here and will TRY to refrain from doing so again once this thread dies down. That being said, I STILL believe that we should backed the Shah. At the time, I was naive and thought everyone in the world should be free like we are. I still believe that but now realize that sometimes propping up the dictator that you know is better taking a chance on the dictator that you don't know and those are the only options in many parts of the world. Heck, why do you think that the Israeli's have allowed Arafat to live?
