I submit that for every American that genuinely harbors 'sick, fear-based, prejudicial bigotry' feelings, there are 100 Americans who think that this letter may express reasonable requests/feelings considering the current circumstances. And these feelings have nothing whatsoever to do with prejudicial bigotry. Perhaps that message that gives you so much grief actually represents how many Americans feel, now that it has become abundantly clear that we are not safe from horrific terrorist atrocities by fanatical, suicidal Arabs. No doubt many now fear that our inherent freedoms in the USA will allow other terrorist cells to continue to operate within our borders as they mingle among us pretending to be normal Arab-Muslim-Americans. Perhaps many normal Americans now feel that it is time for normal Arab-Muslim-Americans to stand up & be counted as Americans who are willing to take steps to defend this country by taking certain affirmative actions to help us preserve our freedoms, our safety & our way of life. Why is it prejudicial bigotry to expect these good people to show that they understand that they are in a unique situation because sick & demented people of their race & religion are bastardizing their religion & infiltrating our country with the express intent of slaughtering us by the tens of thousands??? Is that too much to ask of any normal American at this time of crisis? Should we be expected to forego our freedom to express ourselves and not ask our Arab-Muslim-Americans brothers & sisters to make some sacrifices & help us make this country safe from fanatical, suicidal Arabs? Would it not help us root out some of the evil that lurks among us? Would it not help us defend normal Arab-Muslim-Americans from being harassed & harmed by real prejudicial bigots who would harm anyone remotely resembling an Arab?"re-read the letter with timothy mcveigh or ted kazinski's terrorist acts in mind and see if it seems a little different when you see a white boy walking down the street." Absolute hogwash! Ted Kazinski operated completely on his own. No doubt he is a sick individual. McVeigh apparently operated alone, or with a small number of demented, albeit like minded individuals. How can you make a comparison of these two whacko's & a huge, well organized, well funded terrorist organization that has cells in 70 countries worldwide, who have a long history of atrocities (they've already slaughtered many thousands of Americans among countless other innocents worldwide) & who have repeatedly made public statements that their intent is to slaughter Americans? There is no reasonable comparison at all! That letter was speaking to the fears that many of now have when we see certain Arab men walking down the street. This letter clearly speaks to these fears because we do not see normal Arab-Muslim-Americans speaking out loudly & clearly about the EVIL ONES & how they bastardized Islam. Their leaders aren't taking clear affirmative action to publicly express hard facts about their faith, and what hard actions they are taking as a community and religion to protect the United States of America. I submit, it is the deafening silence from that community since 9/11/01, that is fueling these legitimate fears. This is about expectations that many normal Americans have right now that certain of our American brothers & sisters to stand up & be counted at a time when their assistance & cooperation could save many, many thousands of American lives & quell the fears that their silence & inaction currently fuels. Is that too much to ask? We aren't demanding it. We aren't taking action against our Arab-Muslim-American brothers & sisters for not meeting our expectations (and those that do should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law). And we certainly aren't prejudicial bigots for having these feelings/expectations that they should take clear & affirmative actions now. However, we are certainly within our rights as American citizens to express these feelings & expectations publicly if we so choose, just as you are free to call these expressions prejudicial bigotry. Oh, BTW, if our country was actually plagued by repeated attacks from large numbers of McViegh type kooks, you can count on me to stand up & do whatever I can to stop them........... I certainly would speak loudly & publicly about the clear differences between the McVeigh type kooks & those like me who happen to fit the same general profile. I would also take clear affirmative actions to assist in exposing those among my general group who would do such harm. I would leave little doubt to those around me who I was & what I stand for. I thoroughly comprehend that our freedoms exist because many, many others fought & even died for this country. It's not unreasonable to ask any American to do their part to help keep America land of the free.
