I was under the impression, wrongly perhaps, that there was a helo crash not associated with the Ranger mission. I could do a search, but don't think it's worth the effort.

Special forces have been "in country" since about 9/18. Several are in or ahead of the front line of the Northern Alliance. That's where the lasers that are pointing out targets are coming from.
