Joe, Re: "How about the recall of 820 with MTH? How did Intel recall all those chipsets in 3rd party motherboard, sold to people by "4th party" OEMs or dealers?"

As far as I know, Intel recalled the CC820 motherboards, and offered to replace them with VC820 motherboards with 128MB of RDRAM. Intel also offered to reimburse motherboard manufacturers for any products that they built with MTH chips in them. If you think that other "4th party" OEMs and dealers were left without this option, can you please include the links for proof?

Re: "How about the PCI problem that persisted from 840 to 850?"

What persistent problem? Are i850 and i840 based motherboards experiencing problems on the PCI bus?

Re: "How about the newly discovered problem with older AGP cards?"

Like I said, some manufacturers incorrectly keyed their 3.3V AGP cards so that they could fit in a 1.5V AGP slot. They failed to follow the spec, so their cards are at fault.

Re: "there were some motherboards out there that did not meet AMD's requirements for 266 MHz FSB and PC2100 DDR, only 200 MHz. How is this "ignoring instabilities"?"

If the motherboard manufacturer did not follow the spec, it was their fault. Are you sure that this is what happened?

Re: "PS: This FUD is boring, each side can come up with examples of instability of the other side, and it is just a waste of time."

Then why are you wasting time? Do you want to get the last word?

Jozef:

Couldn't have worried Tom too much as he was unqualified in his conclusion that the Athlon 1500 XP was the best bargain, all in, in the market place...(Probably threw the instability thing in to save INTC a little face)...

Remember 2 years ago when AMD and INTC were scarcely, if ever, compared by industry or market analysts...My how times have changed as it now seems analysts have to search for a crumb to throw INTC when AMD's products are being compared to INTC's!!!
