8:31AM Economic Data : Nonfarm payrolls fell 415K vs the -300K consensus; the unemployment rate jumped to 5.4% from 4.9%, vs the consensus of 5.2%. The average workweek fell a tenth to 34.0, in line with the consensus. The payroll decline and the unemployment rate increase were both worse than expected, but not shocking given the magnitude of layoff announcements which followed Sep 11. The market reaction thus far has been muted.
