Re: ". It's amazing you guys watch one of the most boring sports in existence with such rapture. Baseball is only marginally better than cricket in terms of yawn-factor. "

Wow - A KLOWN 'til the end.

Eric, fine, if you want to believe that. Personally, I don't normally sit down to watch a baseball game on TV, either. I'll go to a ball park, but that's because of the beer, the friends, and the atmosphere. Tonight, however, was different than your regular game. It was the last in the World Series, with one team who is a long standing champion, and the other who is 4 years after starting up, with their first year in the Series. The score was close the entire game, 0-0 for 7 innings, tensions are high, and because of the terrorist attacks in New York, with Mayor Giuliani sitting in the bleachers, you almost want Yankees to win. On the other hand, the D-Backs winning has its own merits. I'd use an old cliche, and say that you could cut the tension with a knife.

Yes sir... definitely not your average game. To say what you said really shows the rest of us that you take little enjoyment out of the most innately interesting things in life. Try to experience something different for a change. God forbid, you might like it! ;-)

Eric,

re: Watch a sport that's actually interesting-- like basketball or football-- or at least a sport that actually involves athletic ability, like the decathlon

Your statement shows that you know absolutely nothing about baseball. I'm a fan of the other sports you mention, but your comments on baseball are totally wrong. Athletic ability, tactics, strategy, excitement ... they're all there in baseball. If you had been in Bank One Ballpark last night, you would have changed your tune big time.

GO DIAMONDBACKS!!! What an incredible night! I'll remember last night the rest of my life.

OT Eric, <Watch a sport that's actually interesting-- like basketball or football>

Football is very fun to watch, but the season is only a fraction of the whole year.

As for basketball, the NBA has turned into a spectacle much like pro wrestling. No thanks. (College basketball is another matter, though.)

Why don't you include soccer, or what the rest of the world calls football? Now that sport is very underrated here in America. ;-)
