Flap some recent poll results ( no not Red Wings or Blues) Monday, Nov. 5, 2001 Bush Trounces Gore in Latest Poll Poor Al Gore. He's been busy in New Hampshire with an eye on 2004, but a new poll has bad news for him. According to a poll of 1,012 adults released today by CNN-USA Today-Gallup: Americans said they would vote for President Bush over Gore by almost a 2-to-1 margin if the election were held now. Only 1 in 10 thought Gore, if elected, would have done a better job than Bush. Four in 10 thought he would have done worse, and four in 10 thought he would have done about the same. Eighty-seven percent approve of the job Bush is doing, about the same level of support he has enjoyed since the Sept. 11 attacks. People were about evenly split on whether they would support a Democratic or Republican candidate for Congress. In June, Democrats had an advantage, 50 percent to 43 percent. Note that the support for Gore is even weaker than the poll by liberal CNN-USA Today-Gallup indicates because it questions adults in general rather than registered voters; polls show that people too lazy to register to vote generally voice support for Democrats.
