It was spelled aluminium when I went to school. I didn't hear aluminum until I first worked with some Americans when I was in Iran.

Up on my old trapline in Montana, they found some "Molly-be-damned." That was the end of my trapline. It is now a molybdenum mine.

I may have learned something new today. Is it spelled with the "i" in it over there? I have a British friend that says it funny (correctly?), but did not realize it was spelled differently. Couldn't figure out where he got the "i".
alYOUmineoum is how it sounds.

re:Aluminum, ie aluminium....

If you look at the Periodic Chart you will find that most metals end with ium, eg barium, beryllium, cadmium, californium, cesium, chromium, gallium, germanium, hafnium, potassium, titanium, sodium etc etc. One of the mysteries is molybdenum.....do the Brits spell it molybdenium?
