2:52PM Applied Materials (AMAT) 39.98 +0.64 (+1.6%): Banc of America Sec thinks semiconductor equipment industry is bottoming, but does not see a recovery until late 2002 at the earliest. More importantly, no signs of a major application driver, which argues that recovery could be modest compared to last 1-2 cycles. Thinks volatile stock will provide additional entry points; firm would be a buyer in the $28-$30 range.
