NVDA isnt really a good place for analysts to measure pc sales simply because most of their cards are sold to folks who already have systems.. Some of their cards costs more then new computers.. : ) ATYT would be a better place to look since they deal more OEM/system builders

I don't know about that. Joe Osha and Mark Edelstone were both focussing on what the company felt about PC demand. In response to Osha's question of whether it was just seasonal...the company seemed to make it clear that the signal is strong and that demand was much better than expected. Also noted high build rates in Europe.

Microsoft also issued a press release today that demand for XP upgrades was strong.

Memory prices is a different issue with lots of capacity. Goverment subsidies in Korea seems to be the big issue. That one might take a few months to work out but Micron stock has been moving up even without much change in DRAM prices.

This story is going to be worth watching. I am going to bet that it will be a factor in case the market drops tomorrow morning as many expect---could provide support to the PC related tech stocks up if enough investors believe this is solid evidence of a PC market recovery. Whether is a recovery is a different matter altogether..it is the anticipation that seems to matter now.
