The Web is hotter than ever, and broadband users spend twice as much time on the web as dialup users do. That adds up to a logarithmic increase in bandwidth demand. Add multimedia to this stew and I think Akamai has a great future, plus in an important way Akamai enjoys the benefits of network effects. However, it is important to remember that Akamai is a service provider. Service providers by their nature are big capital spenders. One lession I have learned from the early chapters of this Internet saga is that capital spenders can get easily squeezed when the Fed decides to take away the liquidity punchbowl. ...ala Exodus, the CLEC's, ISP's, etc.
