FBI says there was an explosion on board. Could be malfunction or terrorism.

Just for the record, engine did fall off, back in late 70's, there was at least one incidents with DC-10 in the US that the bolt, one single bolt, that holding the engine broke at a result of metal fatique, and the plane crashed during take-off.

KC.

Jeff, bolts do crack and engines did fall of planes but in this case there was an explosion. Further since the "bolt" issue all planes are thoroughly checked for that. So there can not be such malfunction except ....... if some one purposely tampered with the "bolt".

They will spin it and try to hide that it actually was an terrorist act and it could be just old plain terrorist sabotage. Only a loony will believe that is was an pure innocent accident.

Today, it will be highly counter productive to admit it so do not expect that the truth will come out. It will end up like the anthrax issue or the TWA 800 flight -- an unsolved mystery .......... and over 250 innocent people dead
