Beamer - re: "Why is AMD buying SOI wafers? Can't they make them on their own?"

All the Drooling AMDroids were butt-slapping themselves with GLEE when AMD EXPANDED their DregsDEN fab early this year to include Oxygen implanters for their SOI program.

Looks like SOMETHING BIG WENT WRONG with that SOI Implant program - probably why AMD has DOWNSIZED their Dregsden fab from 6000 to 5000 wafer starts per week.

And now they have to BUY EXPENSIVE SOI wafers on the outside market.

Can anybody say "Sayonara, Yields" ?

Paul
