Hi CB,

A turbine engine can look relatively intact from the outside but still inflict enough carnage to cause a mid-air explosion. Remember, only a single, hot, metal fragment set loose from the spinning turbines need to pierce the fuselage in order to cause destruction.

Do you remember the Concorde crash? Well, many experts believe that metal debris left on the runway may have been sucked into the jet engines, with fragmentation of the turbine shafts, thus, leaving a trail of hot flying metal debris which punctured the fuselage and causing the subsequent fiery crash.

With regards to the anthrax, the news press were also quick to jump to the bandwagon of the al Qa'ida terrorist network without scrutinizing the pattern of attacks. Bin Laden and his terrorist cohorts have a repeated pattern of inflicting a great number of American casualties targeted at specific structures representing American military or economic strength (US embassies, WTC, USS Cole).

It seems unlikely, but not impossible, that al Qa'ida would send single anthrax letters to an obscure tabloid news group in Florida, the ABC news headquarters and a Democrat (Tom Dascle). This has all the earmarks of a domestic nutball trying to capitalize on the recent tragedy. But the point is that it is very easy for people to try and connect the dots between the recent WTC terrorist attacks and any current tragic event.

And yes, it is a strange coincidence that our planes are exploding while we have declared a war on terrorism. But planes were falling from the sky (and especially from American Airlines) before the WTC.
