08:15 ET Morgan Ups Semi Equip Targets : Morgan Stanley expects the next semi equipment cycle to begin in earnest late Q1, early Q2; though sees possibility of near-term pullback, ups price targets on many names: AMAT 40 > 50, NVLS 40 > 50, KLAC 45 > 60, LRCX 25 > 30, MTSN 5 > 8, CMOS 16 > 20, DPMI 35 > 50, LTXX 18 > 25.

09:11 ET Needham Cuts AMAT/NVLS : -- Update -- Needham downgrades Applied Materials (AMAT 38.57) and Novellus (NVLS 37.43) to BUY from Strong Buy; notes 40+% appreciation off the lows and believes that share prices have largely discounted second half 2002 recovery and the fact that September probably saw the bottom in equipment orders.

Hi Harry:

Still like the storage sector and decided to post some chart links here. Some selected charts.

NAZ 25 point chart.

From a TA standpoint still feel we are going to have a retest. Maybe it doesn’t start till later. Fundamentally I would think the rhetoric we’ll be hearing between the Democrats and Republicans on a stimulus package would set the uncertainty stage for the pullback / retest. Maybe we only go back to the 1650 area.

The other fundamental issue is when the Taliban fall and they give up bin laden. This would be a positive for the markets (IMO short term but a positive).

Storage sector has had some nice moves off the bottom.
