RE:"customers or OEMs finding bugs in Itaniums proves they are actually being bought"

Tells me itanium is not yet ready for primetime and any customers are beta testers...
I wonder if they are happy about paying big bucks for that opportunity?

RE:"So, I'm betting right now that Sledgehammer has no customer found bugs until at least EOY-2003, actually, probably not ever, and that's not because of any wonderful design capability possessed by Dirk and his boys"

What do you mean about the Dirk part?

Jim

Tony, <<<If you had any experience with large systems, like I do, you'd know that it's impossible to find all the bugs in chips or systems of this magnitude before shipments start.>>>

If he had any experience with large systems, in chips or systems of this magnitude, he would that know bugs are part of life in this environment. No system worth anything would be totally bug free, ever. There are always conficts and trade-offs that the end user would have to make.

This is not Radio Shack or Circuit City stuff. All these PC guru types from Walter Mossberger, Joe Osha, on up or down, if you will, have better go to school and learn more about this stuff before they go mouthing off.
