BMW, <Of course, if I can't even convince you that Intel carries a preferable name brand, there is no way I can convince Jim.>

I don't doubt that Intel's brand name is preferable over AMD's. But Intel's brand name is more like Coca-Cola, not Corvette. It still carries an image of hot-rod-like performance, but it's not as big as it used to be back when Pentium was first introduced (1993, I believe).

As for Nissan vs. Kia, I bet more people have heard of Nissan than Kia. I bet more people also believe Nissan is more reliable than Kia. (I would have used Ford in the analogy instead of Nissan, but lately their reputation for reliability has been severely tarnished.)

P.S. - To be sure, if Intel is Coca-Cola, then AMD is far from becoming the Pepsi of semiconductors. Maybe AMD should hire Britney Spears to do a music video with Athlons! LOL!
