Hi, arun - Thanks for your response. And you're right: some things don't fit, and others do. And, there are questions.

"- it looks like they were not silent, but have told stories that have holes"

...Yes, you're right again; except that if the "stories that have holes" are just cover stories, then they are being silent about the truth. It is possible that the differences in their stories result from them being poorly rehearsed.

Or, it is possible that they are, somehow, innocent of any wrongdoing.

But that's not the point, really. The real point is: what to do?

Situations such as these place a tremendous strain on "the system" and on oficials who have lived their lives by certain guidelines, both legal and jurisdictional.

It is a certainty that some persons are going to be detained in error. Or, if we err to much on the side of civil liberties, that people will be released, in error: to do what damage, we don't know.

The fact is that a number of persons, operating in anonymity, of various nationalities, are trained, rehearsed and completely prepared to inflict as much harm on innocent people as possible.

I've heard a lot of people say: "If we ignore people's rights, the terrorists win."

Maybe. My own thinking is that if we prevent the loss of 5,000 innocent lives, we win.

This isn't going to be easy.

Regards,

Jim

Arun... Don't you think that shaving their bodies before boarding that flight to Texas might just be a bit suspicious given the instructions Atta laid down for the rest of the hijackers?

The cash, the box cutters, or whatever evidence might be construed as "circumstantial", but how many muslims shave their bodies in preparation for a mere flight in response to a "job offer" from relatives?
