What is the purpose of the terrorists' body shaving anyway?

Hawk:

One report that I read indicated that they had shaved their arm-pits, which is not that uncommon in India. I don't know whether it is a Muslim custom or just a rural indian custom.

Secondly, it has been reported that Mohammad Atta's instructions were meant for only the "pilot" hijackers and not for the "muscle". By the description of the Indian men from newspaper articles, the Indian men do not seem to be the leaders. No connection to any terrorist training, visits to other countries have been reported. No record of any pilot school training.

Note the fact that although the 19 dead hijackers were from different countries they were predominantly from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and UAE. Culturally, Indian Muslims are very different from Arabs (especially the ones in Hydrabad, which is in South India) Culturally, the men arrested in Texas don't seem to be part of the cell.
