Hi Bill,

As far a I know SI is now a part of INSP. They get funds from advertising and monthly membership fees. Like you I am grandfathered in from the old days, so I am not paying anything. If I remember the history right, they went from free, to an lifetime membership for $215, and finally to a monthly fee.

With the bad state of the markets and the fact most people don't like to short I can gather that not as many people are interested in stocks these days. The reduction in postings on SI are a indication of that. There are also many competing sites now. For the most part it seems all that is left are the true hard core investors/traders. To be honest a lot of thread have gone dead, though the lack of people posting meaningful information.
