I don't get it. You say that a longer pipeline helps P4 get to 2.0 GHz. But then you say that a longer pipeline could not help the P3 relative to Athlon.

So which is it? Longer pipelines help Intel or not? Intel needed copper or not?

According to material that I received from Microprocessor Forum, the Pentium III has a 10-stage pipeline, while the Athlon is 10-15 stage.
