John - Re: "Funny, you get banned from the AMD thread, and it GOES DEAD, only 25 posts today. At the same time, the Intel thread gets more posts than it has had in years, over 150 today. And over a third of the posts here are from Droidish folks that followed you over, over 50 posts. That's twice as many as all the posts on the ManiDroid thread. Go figure the droids, must be some kind of weird love/hate thing going on. Deep down, they must like the abuse, thus their attraction to Jerry Sanders."

Excellent observation - whudda thunk it?

The Droids must be getting bored with their "Everything is coming up Roses" and SWEET !!! Mama-boards posts !

John - I stopped into Fry's Electronics last evening - the BIG Computer/Electronics SUper Store - here in Silicon Valley.

What I observed was similar to what I posted several weeks ago -

Desktop PCs with AMD's AthWiper eXPloder were COMPLETELY NON-EXISTENT - Not a single one !

Desktop PCs with AMD's Plain old AthWiper were nearly COMPLETELY NON-EXISTENT - there was the one old HP 1.3 GHz AthWiper that has been there for a while.

Every other PC was Intel based - ranging from 800 MHz Celerons to 1.1 and 1.2 GHz Celerons and 1.5 to 2.0 GHz Pentium 4s - with the exception of a 1 GHz Pentium /// from Sony.

Both Sony and HP had 2.0 GHz Pentium 4's on display - for sale.

Compaq, HP, Sony and eMachines were the main PCs for sale and, as noted, these were essentially 99.5% Intel.

In the area of laptops, 3 laptops had 900 MHz DooWrongs and two had 1 Ghz AthWIpers.

The remaining 24 all had Intel CPUs - some Celerons - mostly Pentium ///s.

So, AMD had a 5/29 = 17% presence in Mobiles - significantly BELOW Mad Man Sanders' goal of 50 %

It is still early in the Christmas shopping season, but at this point, AMD seems to be visited by the GRINCH !

Note - in the component section, where individual processors are sold, I observed the AMD-supplied 5 page memo attempting to explain to VERY TECHNICAL PEOPLE - what the hell QuantiSpeed means !!

John, A large amount of BW was wasted by paul and his attacks. It has not lost any value, it has had the waste post removed. Now you have all this extra traffic and you feel it is good? It looks like it has turned into an Intel cheerleader thread?
