To: craig crawford who wrote (134800 ) 11/16/2001 1:32:53 PM From: Skeeter Bug Read Replies (2) | Respond to of 164684 craig, butter/margarine was a piss poor example of saturated/monounsaturated fat comparison. margarine's big culprit is transfatty acids and not monounsaturated fat. duh! not too mention other chemicals that cause problems. why did you choose it? the bottom line is simple. eating 6 ounces of monounsaturated fats in the form of peanuts, guacamole, almonds, macadamia nuts or olive oil is much healthier than eating 6 ozs of animal fat and eating it with a knife and fork. also, your argument that you don't need carbos so you should avoid them also applies to saturated fat as long as you take B12. the reason you don't reach the same conclusion for each is b/c the logic doesn't exist. your brain runs on glucose. carbos are broken apart during digestion creating glucose to feed your brain. yes, your body can work on proteins (even muscle!) to create the REQUIRED glucose, however, doing so is much more stressfull on the body. carbos aren't bad. excessive amounts over and beyond body requirements are bad. BIG DIFFERENCE wow! that's why fruits and vegetables arn't bad for you unless eaten in excessive amounts! they play a real role in health. i consider the cost of reasonable saturated fat intake to be more than offset by the convenience and satisfaction gathered from eating meat. the key is that a reasonable person will not suck down lard as though they are macadamia nuts, almonds or peanuts - something your philosophy would support. btw, perhaps breast feeding s/b rescinded as unhealthful b/c of all the carbos it contains... of course, you know better than the designer of breast milk! ho ho ho ho!
