that's my point. if you're going to be for intervention on behalf of human rights, you need to intervene on behalf of ALL people, not just "strategically important" people. the very fact that clinton intervened in kosovo on behalf of thousands but failed to intervene in rwanda on behalf of a million is proof that our intervention around the world isn't rooted in righteous defense of the innocent.

that is why people who say the morality of leaders is not important are wrong. "it's the economy stupid" they say. they couldn't be more wrong. character and morality should be first and foremost among our elected leaders. the republicans are a disgrace for not standing up for morality in government and for bowing to political self preservation. the lack of character in our president the last 8 years and the even greater lack of character from republicans who didn't hold him accountable is the reason why slaughters like 9/11 take place.

decent minded americans should throw all of them out of office. i would rather republicans or conservatives stand up for their beliefs and lose than move to the left to bring more people into the party.
