wbmw, it's not a matter of popularity. It's a matter of lack of choice and intel propaganda. I was just told that we bought another P4 as an eval this time a 1.8Ghz ( last one was a 1.5Ghz ). Our CIO wanted to make sure that we get the fastest desktop PC available. He has an Athlon 1.4Ghz at home and he wanted to make sure that we get something that's at least that fast. Since we are a Dell only company, the fastest desktop Dell had available was the 1.8Ghz. One of our junior hardware guys ( who knows nothing ) insists that Dell told him that this P4 is faster than the Athlon XP 1800+ across the board. We should sue the f_ckers for lying like that. I am going to bench this box too tomorrow. If it blows potatoes like I think it will, I will call Dell myself and ask them to explain how it is faster than an Athlon 1800+.
