Good suggestion rfh. Kyocera was the company which produced the Iridium handset with the detachable 'around town' terrestrial handset. QUALCOMM has a substantial relationship with Kyocera, having sold them the pdQ and other handset business.

QUALCOMM could license Kyocera to produce Globalstar handsets. QUALCOMM could collect a royalty and supply the ASICs to Kyocera. Kyocera has volume and production skills which I expect are superior to anything QUALCOMM could reasonably get underway for Globalstar. Kyocera is also pretty good on design.
