Looking at that first graph, the first thing I notice is that this is the first time massive monetary stimulus didn't produce an almost immediate reaction upward in "Final Sales to Domestic Purchasers". Maybe Stephen Roach (MSDW) is right that this is unlike other post-war recessions and shares more in common with '29 - '33. I wish we could see the same graph for that period for comparison.
