>> Bull. That's like saying if you're in a battle zone with a flood of wounded coming in, you need to try to save ALL the injured, not just the ones you have a good chance of being able to help. <<

you are the one who is full of bull. if we took it upon ourselves there was nothing that could stop us from having our way with a country like rwanda. somehow i don't think they could have done much to us with some "machetes".

>> It's called the process of triage. It's rarely easy, and it can often seem cruel and arbitrary, but it's something people have to do from time to time <<

uh huh. we had to bomb kosovo for 78 straight days and kill nearly a couple thousand civilians to save a few thousands more, yet we were just too busy to save a million people in rwanda from hacking each other with machetes. uh huh.

>> In an ideal world, you'd be spot on. Unfortunately, Earth is not an ideal world, so we have to do what it takes to gain power, <<

oh my. rdb, talk about a philosophy! now who sounds like the fascist on this thread? we have to do whatever it takes to gain power. power at any cost eh? even if it means subverting our morals, subverting our conscience, subverting other people, just as long as we get elected. you'd make a great politician. you'd fit right in. selfish as can be.

>> You should go check out the Libertarian Party (and their thread here on SI). <<

not my cup of tea.

>> Those people have mastered the art of being true to themselves and irrelevant to everyone else. <<

well they don't have truth on their side. their beliefs are wrong, so it's only natural that they have become irrelevant.
